Prompt: We will leave this prompt as open-ended as possible. Please answer this question in the most informative and "you" way that you can: What does my digital portfolio say about me (my story) as a writer in this class?
My digital portfolio has said a lot of things to me. First, it showed me a possibility as a writer. Since Korean education system is more focused on memorizing things and getting good grades instead of creativity, I had not done that many writings in Korea. However, what I really glad was even though I was not that good writer, professor and my classmates gave me overwhelming compliments on my blog. Especially, the most impressive compliment that I have got during the semester was “Jacob, you’re a strong analyzer”, which Professor Mangini said. I think it made me more motivated and dedicated to my blog! Second of all, I found confidence. As I mentioned, I was encouraged due to compliments. When I was in Korea, nobody gave me a compliment like this. I was an average student, and moreover, my math teacher said that I have to give up my study since I am not smart enough. So, I really lost my way and could not get confidence. Yet, now I found something that I can be interested in and can be very focused on. I obtained positive energy from this class and through my digital portfolio. Lastly, I found myself. I want to describe that writing is an action that reveals oneself, or illustrates own world that exists in my mind. There are so many thoughts in ourselves that we do not even know, but by writing, I could gradually rediscover myself, such as what is my perspectives in certain issues. It was very grateful moments to be dedicated in class again after two years I graduated highschool. On the other hand, my portfolio said I have a lot of ways to go in writing and reading English. I still had problems with my word choice, sentence structure, and grammar. Of course, I should not be so harsh on me, even if I cannot speak or write English like you guys now, but I feel the necessity of being more dedicated in mastering English. Also, I want to say thank you to myself who has been very dedicated and enthusiastic on my writings and moved forward regardless of grades. And, I want to say thank you for everyone who gave me great applauds and sent me substantial compliments which I did not deserve. Thanks to you guys, I feel like I learned better things than grades which was priceless. I want to say it was such an honor to study in the same class with such a great and enthusiastic classmates and superb professor! Hope luck will always be with you guys! Then, farewell.

In october 8th 1895, a number of assassins invade Joseon Dynasty's empress's bedroom. The guards of empress were subdued by assassins in 15 minutes, and empress Myung Sung disguised as maid and hid among them. However, empress caught up by assassins while she was running away. Empress was raped and rampantly minced by assassins and wasted on the ground after burnt. Emperor wailed after found empress's torn-up ring finger and did not marry again until he died. Empress Myung Sung was the most smartest out of all Joseon Dynasty rulers' wives. She had outstanding sense of fluctuating international situations and she tried to oppress Japanese government by using Chinese and Russian governments. But, it failed and as a result she was murdered by Japanese. In attempting to colonize Joseon Dynasty, Emperor Ko Jong and Empress Myung Sung were big obstacles to Japan. So as a first step of weakening Joseon, Japanese government sent assasin to kill the empress and insisted that empress murdered by pedestrians. Empress Myung Sung led Joseon instead of emperor for a while. She exiled Heung Sun Daewongun, Emperor's father, who took over Ko-Jong's position and ruled the country a few decades. And she fulfilled neutral diplomacy among Japan, China and Russia very significantly. But Japan which was expanding their totalrialism and was enlarging their powers over East Asia, and Empress was always hinderance. So, Japanese government claimed Emperor to expel Empress from royal family and when Emperor rejected, after threatening prince and Emperor with swords, they slashed Empress at the end. In consequence, Emperor held by fear that he might be murdered like his wife; he moved to Russian Embassy by abandoning palace. Many bureaucrats pleaded emperor to do second marriage for stabilizing of dynasty, emperor consistently rejected. And healthy Emperor met mysterious death, as well, a few years later. Emperor might be really miserable, because he could not protect his wife as the strongest man in the dynasty. This one dynasty's tragedy is still vigorously described as a musical, dramas and movies. However, at the same time, it suggests Koreans that they should not experience these tradegies again due to weakness. Lastly, lets watch a music video from Korean drama "Empress Myung Sung". It is sung by internationally famous soprano Choi Sumi. Although the video is fiction, but still it is well describing that how the situation was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pVuhKFp-io Probably, what is happening in South Korea is worse than America’s Donald Trump’s elect. At least, Donald Trump has not controlled by cult leader’s daughter. Many friends ask me, Jacob, could you explain what is happening in South Korea? Why so many Koreans come out to the square and calling for impeachment? Then, I start to explain reluctantly with depressed voice. Some people may have read about South Korean president ask for an advice to her friend. To explain this story, I should start to explain from 1970’s. The current president of South Korea is Park Geun-Hye, and her father was also president: Park Chung-Hee. After President Park’s first lady Yuk Yong Soo got assassinated, Park Geun-Hye had to take a role of first lady instead of her mother as the eldest daughter. However, she was very lonely and started to miss her mother due to her young age. One day, an old man approached to her and introduced himself as a psychic who has a special ability that can possess spirit to his body; his name was Choi Tae-Min. Since then, he became close subordinate of her. President Park Chung-Hee, after he recognized Choi was giving a bad influence to his daughter, he tried to exterminate Choi, but Park Geun-Hye always defended him. From then 40 years later, Choi Tae-Min died in 1994, and Park Geun-Hye became Korea’s 18th President. Yet, Choi’s clan was still exerting significant influence even after Choi Tae-Min’s death; her daughter: Choi Sun-Sil was behind of Park in managing country. According to Korean presses, from policy making to nominating high officials, Choi Sun-Sil influenced a lot to president. Moreover, by using president’s power from back, she exploited taxes, took bribes from companies including Samsung. In addition to that Choi Sun-Sil used her power to give privileges to her daughter Jung Yu-Ra. Jung is known as a Asian game gold medalist national horse rider that has been participating a lot of competitions. However, according to Korean Presses, there were a lot of corruptions and supports of her mother. For instance, Samsung intervened in choosing Jung’s horses for Asian games, and to the cost of buying horses, Samsung was exempted from vast taxes. And, Jung is also a student of famous women’s university in Korea: Ewaha Women’s University. University announced that she entered with athlete careers. However, in Jung’s enter, Choi was related and also she required one of university’s professor to give Jung a good grade. Therefore, Jung could get average ‘B’ from her all subjects. About this issue, the principle of Ewaha University resigned, and also school is sincerely considering about Jung’s expel. However, related all this issue, there are more of veiled truths. A lot of presses are trying to unveil all the truth, and citizens also strongly hope that president will resign. It is such a hard truth to believe. Especially, as long as Korean citizens had never imagined that their country was controlled by only one normal person, they are resentful now. In Seoul Square 1.5 Million people come out, and they are calling for President’s resign for her dignity. However, president’s attitude seems that she will never resign from her position. Therefore, people think impeachment is the only resolution for this issue; still, it is also hard to impeach president, because her term is only 16 months left, and to the process of the impeachment, it takes more than one year. Furthermore, since I was very proud of my country, it is very shameful that my country’s leader is corruptive. And, I was really happy about our first female president, because even many developed countries could not accomplish. However, now that pride is turned into resent. Especially, when people ask me about it over and over, I do not even know whether reply about this shameful issue is right or not, and even the moment that I am writing this article, I am really ashamed. However, I write this article by hoping that people will not no longer misunderstand and will not have more curiosity about it. And, I want to believe that still there is a hope in my country, since there are a lot of people who are calling for righteousness. If you want to read more clear article, then this is an article from BBC. And this is the video that took protest in the square. (Youtube) Do you believe students in Korea normally study over 13 hours a day and they sleep less than 6 hours? In an old Korean proverb, there is a phrase ‘rising in the world and gaining fame’ which means study hard and become great. Based on this thought, Korean parents force their children to study and force them to have jobs such as a doctor and lawyer, even though their children suffer from severe competition. Some students finish their 12-year-mathematic course even before they finish sixth grade. Parents always want their children to be a front-runner in such a brutal college admission race. That is the reason parents force their children, and students cannot avoid competition. Including this problem, there are three defects in Korean education compared to American education, which worsens severe competition among students: students cannot choose their university with their future goals; in selecting students, Korean universities emphasize college entrance exam results than other factors such as extracurricular activities, recommendation letter and self-introduction letter; every majors are ranked in the first place in three famous universities.
First, from elementary school, teachers educate their students to go to so-called ‘SKY’; a new terminology from first characters of three famous universities in Korea: Seoul National, Korea, and Yonsei. This is incomprehensible in American logic which prefers students to enter a suitable college depending on their tendencies. As much as teachers and parents imply a student’s success is guaranteed in SKY universities, conglomerates like Samsung and Hyundai even prefer employees from those colleges. Teachers, by bringing up such company preferences, teachers arouse motivation for studying and academic competition, but it is serious pressure for students. However, American companies do not have such preferences according to a school’s name, and American teachers also do not stress Harvard or Ivy League schools to their students as well. Therefore, students have freedom in selecting their colleges by considering distance between their house and college and whether their dream college is suitable to them or not. For example, in Korea, there is some university specialized in engineering like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, called KAIST. KAIST is as great as Seoul National University (SNU), and for becoming an engineer KAIST is better choice. However, when students get acceptances from both schools, students would prefer SNU because it is slightly more famous. Second of all, since SKY universities emphasize a college entrance exam result more than other factors in selecting students, students need to score almost perfect in the exam. To be perfect in every subject, they always have additional studies even after school, and, Korean parents spend vast money on tutoring. Americans commonly say that the American college tuition is unaffordable. However, private tutoring fees in Korea are also unimaginably unaffordable as well. Mostly, for one subject, it costs 1000$-1500$ per month, and most parents employ three tutors for three major subjects in entering college: English, Korean and Math. Monthly, It costs 3000$ at least. When including these expenses in students 10th to 12th grades, this is equivalent to American college tuition to some extent. On account of the fact that some Korean parents spend so much money on tutoring, those parents who cannot afford this amount of money per month feel abnormal compare to others. On the contrary, in the American educational system, the government gives loan and grant, and university gives significant scholarships to students as well. In Korea, while the government assists student in a college education, they do not have support in expensive private tutoring. Therefore, the Korean educational system is more expensive compared to American educational system. Lastly, unlike American colleges, prestigious Korean colleges dominate all the majors. For example, in America, Harvard University is considered by many as the most prestigious and honorable college, but this general perception is not true for every major in Harvard. University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) Warton School is top ranked for economics and management; Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is renowned for top engineering school; for law Columbia College in New York City is also famous. While American colleges have their specialties and share dominant majors through colleges, Korean colleges do not. Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University are dominant in every major. Even among these, Seoul National University is considered for all the best majors. This phenomenon causes students to want to go to attend Seoul National University (SNU). There are students who receive acceptance from Harvard but they could not go SNU, since competition for entering SNU is severe and stressful. According to one research, only 1 percent out of 600,000 students can enter SNU. Some students also take a year off for more study to enter SNU even though they have been accepted by Korea and Yonsei Universities. This causes Korean students to be overly obsessive with their diplomas and colleges’ names, so they feel like they are losers when they cannot attend those universities, and in the worse cases, they commit suicide. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. (OECD) report in happiness of students in member nations, Korean students’ happiness was the lowest. A while ago, a very heartbreaking story happened in Korea. There was a student in a prestigious private school, yet, his mom always blamed his son due to his poor grades. Hence, that son studied really hard and achieved first prize from his final. Nevertheless, although he accomplished first prize, he committed suicide with a memo on his transcript with number 1, which read “is it enough?”. We are individuals, not machines for studying. We have our own personalities and we have rights to pursue our happiness; still the Korean education system oppresses Korean students and deprives individuality in contrast to America. For what purpose do we go to university? For what purpose do we try to become great? Those are for our happiness, not to make us compete against each other and step on our friends. I hope the educational system in Korea would be reformed like the American education system which leads their students to become happy and accomplish their goals. There were two political issues that happened in this year that will change the whole history. First one was ‘Brexit’, which was the decision that the U.K made to leave European Union (EU). Second is Donald Trump’s victory in American presidential election. Majority did not speculate that he would win, and as a result of his victory, many things happened: Asian market indexes were fluctuated, Canadian immigration homepage server was blown up, and many people thought that Donald Trump will start war against North Korea. However, recently Donald Trump’s attitudes are quite different from what we expected after his elect. He became more moderate, acting prudent in front of presses, and calling for harmonization among immigrants and whites (NBC NEWS). Moreover, as long as he is perceiving that half of citizens are protesting him, he will not fulfill strong policies that will cause huge turmoil in this country.
It is very impressive to live in this historical moment, I was a little bit scared and resentful about Donald Trump’s elect. Also, people were very outrageous, since they could not expect Hillary Clinton's lose. Many people say this is unprecedented the worst election ever, but I think it was a good opportunity that suggested the way how America will resolve potential bomb in this society: racial discrimination. Many people call for equalities among gender, sexual minority, and different ethnic group. Still, I think that it is proven that still there are such bad accustoms in American society by Donald Trump’s elect. That is the reason why educated people must protest against bad accustoms that violate America’s true freedom and equality. I think Donald Trump is not a good person as a politician, as well. In addition to that he is an arrogant business man who is not humble, and also ignorant who does not have respect for minorities and his rival Clinton to the extent people doubt that he graduated Warton School. However, I believe his talent as a speaker is exceeding Clinton. On accounts of Aristotle’s triangle: which are essentials for good speech: credibility, emotion, logic, purpose, and context. I want to say he used all of these essentials efficiently. First, in terms of credibility, most of Trump supporters could believe his economic policies about serious American economic depression due to his status: businessman. Most of Asians who did not even bright about policies supported him, since there was a faith that Donald Trump will make citizens’ lives better because he is a successful businessman. Second, in terms of emotion, he used emotion significantly. Nowadays, white people are losing jobs, and their economic class is degrading. These people got serious stresses, yet there were not anything to blame. However, in this moment, Donald Trump appeared like their messiah. He turned their angers to all the minorities, females, immigrants, and Muslims. White males became fanatic and conformed him. Third, during discussion, Hillary Clinton's speech was more outstanding than Donald Trump. However, Trump’s strategy which hit angry White men overcame his only lack: logic. Even though there are a lot of statistics that this country’s low unemployment rate attributed to capitalists such as Donald Trump, angry public that have exhausted with their poverties did not hear Hillary Clinton’s words. Moreover, he used easy words and pledged impossible but simple and explicit commitments. Those commitments were enough to pass over Hillary’s logical words. Lastly, today’s context which is serious unemployment and declining middle class outburst Donald Trump’s elect, as well. According to Robert Reich’s documentary: inequality for all, American economy is prospering than any other moments. However, since government imposes small tax rate which is 10-15 percent for the rich, and imposes 30-35 percent of vast tax to middle classes, income inequality is polarized, and American market seems in serious depression. As mentioned above, already low middle class of Whites are angry regardless of the fact, they were already mad like killing someone instantly. Therefore, they were scapegoating immigrants who continuously have come to America for finding better lives. Donald Trump was successful to distort the truth and made illusion that all the things will be solved after he becomes the president, and it made people to obey him. As much as I thought if he were a psychologist, he was the greatest one ever, he used public psychology well. Currently, America is in serious turmoil, in the cities there are having riots that ask for resigning Donald Trump. Moreover, to the extent that my college president sent every student be cautious about being aggressive due to election, this country is divisive. However, consistent social division is not good for this society, and people have to keep in mind this country is built with democracy. Hence, no matter how Donald Trump is a dangerous and radical figure, as long as there are well educated citizens who fight against him, he cannot do whatever he wants. In addition, including powerful Republican Paul Ryan, the speaker of house, they openly declared that they do not support Trump, so Donald Trump should reorganize separate group among Republicans, as well. Thus, I speculate he will not powerful as much as people think. This blessed democratic system is making him less powerful, and also when he is causing problems assembly can sanction him and impeach him anytime. It is true that current situation is unpleasant and seemingly hopeless, but people should gather opinion and attempt their best to resolve out this huge depressive situation. In the 17th century, four Koreans lived in Europe. Even this number is amazing given that there was no interaction between the Choseon Dynasty (now the Republic of Korea) and Rome. How could this happen? At the end of the 15th century, a war between Choseon and Japan had broken out. Although Choseon would recover from this seven-year war, the problem of slavery the war brought with it still existed. Japanese sold Koreans in the slave markets, and one merchant from the Roman Empire, Francesco Carletti bought four Koreans in Nagasaki, Japan. They were then sent to the Roman Empire as slaves. This story is based on Francesco’s travel journal, My World Travel Log.
What happened to these four Koreans after they arrived in Rome? No records have ever been found. However, one theory is that an Italian named Antonio Corea who was known to be very rich in the Roman Empire, is one of the slaves from Choseon. His surname Corea well indicates that he was Korean. The name Corea (or Korea) is from the ancient dynasty of Koryo. Therefore, many historians infer that Antonio took the surname Corea because he was Korean. In reality, Antonio’s descendants still live in Albi, Italy. Among the population in Albi, a reported 33% has the surname Corea. When the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) sent a documentary team to Albi to explore whether the surname Corea really came from Korea, people who had that surname insisted that they had an ancestor from Korea. However, many also claimed that the surname derived from the Latin word ‘chŏréa’ which means dance. Although these people assert that Corea did not originate from Korea, I think there is clear evidence to suggest that it did. Among the artworks that the Paul Getty art museum owns is ‘A man in Korean costume,’ which was drawn by Dutch artist Peter P. Rubens in 1606. That artwork portrays a man in a ‘chulik,’ which is a robe, and a 'mang-gun,’ which is a headdress. He has small eyes with double eyelids. With these features typical of Koreans, we cannot say that the man is just a European. Based on this artwork and the record called My World Travel Log which was written by Francesco Carletti at the same time, historians are assuming that the man in the portrait might be Antonio Corea. Regardless of this portrait and travel log, I think someone like Antonia Corea existed because history is not composed from records but from people. When Antonia Corea lived, the era was turbulent. Because people could be sold from place to place, I think records like My World Travel Log may tell their tale. Had I been the slave who was sold to somewhere far away, I would have been devastated. Although our ancestors might have been devastated, we should respect those who did not forget their home despite being sold and sent as far away as Europe. Even though the man may not have been Korean, the fact that Korea was not isolated on the globe is quite a fascinating historical fact. As a colored race student in America, the fact that party with exclusive tendency to different races hold the power scares me. Regardless of my political tendency, the candidate who ignores the fact that United States was founded on diverse races, insults handicapped people, and females could be a president is quite incomprehensible becomes the greatest country's leader makes me quite fury. Moreover, what made me shocked was there were a lot of people with misogyny and white supremacy. Some people might ask me why do I act so pessimistically about the American election, even though this is not South Korea’s election. I do not want to care about it, as well. However, as Trump said or as Americans usually say America is the strongest power of the world, decisions that America makes are not only for the Americans. Good examples of the this is first, I have to worry about my family in homeland, and second the likelihood that I have to fight against North Korea as a soldier became larger. Trump is well known with his hostility against North Korea, so due to his election South Korea should be prepared of the tempest from the election of Trump. Not only South Korea but also poor Syrians have to start worrying about their dictatorship government if the U.S army leaves, and including the Philippines and the countries protected China should concern about the backfire when U.S army leaves them. With the election of Donald Trump, happen that might change the world history was occurred at once.
The reason that people worry about him is his policies against immigrants seem what Hitler did to Jews. I have learned that discrimination to others is the result of failure from Sociology. Americans are experiencing serious economic crisis due to previous wars in Iraq and Middle East. However, Donald Trump tries to turn that discontents to immigrants and different races. People need to think carefully in this situation what Nazi did to Jews, in the World War II, Nazi turned their economic failure that caused as the backfire of World War I into Jews, as saying that Germans are greater than the other races. Hitler tried to implant deep hatred to Jews, and now what Donald Trump is doing to Hispanics or different races same thing. He is saying immigrants take their jobs, but before that U.S economy is already broken down. Because of unreasonable Iraq war, there has been fiscal issue from former regimes during last 20 years. Moreover, serious subprime-mortgage issue was occurred in 2008. The economic recession that is happening is just the extension of incomprehensible war and economic crisis. In addition, he is one of the capitalists who are trying to get self-benefits by exploiting cheap labors. I do not think his word is trustworthy. According to the statistics from the Atlantic, 9 out of 10 Trump supporters are white, and I am living with one of them. My host is the son of Irish immigrants, and he is a Republican. While I was eating my dinner with my host family, my host asked me who do I advocate between Hillary and Trump, so I replied Bernie Sanders as a joke to change the subject. However, he kept asking me, so I just answered I hope Trump would not be the president because he might break the peace in South Korea. Suddenly, he became really aggressive, in addition to that he started to mention about Korean peninsula issue, which I personally hate to talk about. Moreover, he is American who just read short articles about Korea, compared to who have studied about Korean history during 20 years of my life. He started to say why Donald Trump should be the president, and he began to say the necessity of the war against North Korea. I was really insulted and angry about the fact that I have to listen words with absurdities about my mother country. So, I asked him “in other words, you don’t care about whether 80 millions of Koreans will die or not?” He replied, “to eliminate the biggest threat from the world, we have to embrace the sacrifice.” My friends and families are still there. However, he said those words without any hesitations. Further, he insulted Korean community in Philadelphia, as well. It was hard to hold. Sometimes, people say Koreans should be ashamed because we cannot defend ourselves due to a lack of power. It is true, so I came to the U.S to learn the greatness of U.S and to contribute to South Korea. Also, I have respected America because of their high aspires of democracy, fair opportunities, and equalities to social minorities. I thought what I imagined was all absurd, but yesterday night the article about what President Obama did to Trump supporter made me impressed. One Trump supporter shouted Trump at Democrat’s North Carolina rally, it raised tension in rally. However, to protect that supporter, President Obama asked his guards to escort Trump supporter so that he could go back safely. He said to crowd that United States of America is democratic country, and that supporter is just supporting his candidate (Huffington Post). I personally think his speech well shows still American democracy is alive. Further, I hope there are a lot of people like Obama in America who will make this country great forever. Many people ask me where I came from. Then, I have to explain them kindly that I came from South. In addition, people ask me how different from South and North. Or which Korea is good one. I want to say there is not any good one between them. It is just matter of bad leaders in North Korea. North Koreans are the purest in the world. Moreover, another thing that I was surprised with was not many people know about South Kore. I expected that quite a lot of people would know South Korea because of companies such as Samsung and Hyundai. However, as a result of my long travel in Europe and study here for 6 months, I recognized it is different than my expectation.
If I explain differences between South Korea and North Korea, one of the biggest differences is economic power. South Korea is in 11th in GDP ranking (knoema). However, North Korea is out of 50th. Moreover, according to South Korean government, South Korean person usually have 160 times larger income than one North Korean. In short, when assuming that one South Korean has 25,000$ of annual income which is average GDP per capita, North Korean has to live out with estimated 151$ of GDP. In addition, when you see this satellite picture, while South Korea is filled with lights, North Korea is not. Due to lack of money to spend for electricity, they have to shudder even in winter. It is because all the money in North Korea is dominated by government and some privileged classes. Thus, majority of North Koreans should suffer from famines, when South Koreans enjoy affluent lives. Another differences between South Korea and North Korea is ideology. South Korea adopted democracy as our main political ideology and capitalism as our market ideology. On the contrary, North Korea chose dictatorship and communism as their main political and market ideologies. Actually, North Korea’s official name is ‘Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, therefore originally, government should give political rights for citizens, yet since their democracy is superficial, it is right to say they are dictatorship country. South Korea and North Korea are brothers. We had been same country for 4000 years, so same bloods flow in our blood vain. However, about 60 years ago from now, tragic war outbreak, and it was prelude of this tragedy. It caused almost 10 millions of casualties in both sides, and millions of separated-families. Due to segregation, I have to go to military service to aim gun against my brothers in north. Furthermore, my grandmother does not know whether her older brother is alive or not. To prevent these repetitive tragedies, I think that re-unification is the only solution of this long turmoil. However, since our segregated term was really long, people from each country perceive each other as different countries. Also, on accounts of vast money that South Koreans should pay, people cannot say yes for re-unification hastily. The Best Gift That I Gave in This Year
People usually recall the best gift they have received but in my case, I remember the best gift that I gave to someone, because I have learned preparing a gift for someone I like is pleasurable. Unlike others, I feel happiness giving rather than receiving a gift. Recently, the best gift that I gave to someone is a portrait that was for the girl I liked. Everyone might have a time they prepared a gift for someone they liked, and they might be very nervous, or feel hesitation about the recipients. I experienced this moment too, and it was one of moments which made me more mature than before. I liked her since, I met her from my English group gathering. She was a tutor and I was one of her students. Her name was Lindsay, she was looked like famous Korean idol and her kind personality which listens others carefully made me attracted to her. Thus, she was significantly popular with guys, and to the extent that I thought “do I deserve her?”. I considered her as a girl too good for me. However, more than I thought she had quite a lot of common tastes of music and similar experiences like bullied in school. These common things made us me got close easily. While we were gradually getting close, I had a chance to drink a beer with her at bar. She confided a lot of happens that occurred with her ex and since I just broke up with ex, I could sympathize with her. The mood was quite romantic and she seemed more lovely. After we finished our beers and sausages came out for our side dish, we left the bar. Snow was coming and we had to put umbrella together and with excuse that it is too late, I brought her back to bus stop. As we were walking, snow fell like the movie scene and we had a great conversation. Moreover, she felt cold so, I took off my muffler and muffled her neck sincerely. All the situations formed romantic atmosphere and also, I was indescribably flirted. After that moment, she texted me first for a while. Therefore, I thought I could be with her and I made an appointment with her to watch movie after my English lesson. However, her ex-boyfriend suddenly contacted her and she left me after lesson ended, she went to her former boyfriend at the day I was supposed to watch movie with her. She still loved her ex-boyfriend and I had to step back from her. If I truly liked her, I knew I have to forget her, I could not. A month later, I had a chance to fly to Europe, traveling by myself through six countries. Even after, she rejected me, I wanted to appeal her still I like her, so I agonized and agonized about a great gift for her. While I was seriously thinking about her gift, I remembered that once she mentioned on Facebook that she wants her portrait, so I went to Monmatre Hill in France, the place where all the good artists gathered. From the selecting the artist to giving the portrait to her, it was a series of hardships. One artist swore at me as saying ‘Fuxx kid’ because I did not select him, and the artist that I chose deceived me by overcharging me two times than original price of the portrait. Moreover, I had to carry that portrait during the whole journey. It was horrible but I was happy since, the portrait was well drawn enough with purple pastels as much as she will like. Finally, I came back from Europe, and I ought to give her the portrait. However, I was scared to give it to her on account of the fact that she already had a boyfriend and it was obviously peculiar to give her the portrait in this circumstance. I could not just keep delaying this and I did not have much time because I had to come America, so I decided to give it. Luckily, regardless of the fact that I was not with her, she appreciated about my sincerity that I remembered her wish. I was happy as well, but I determined to cut my one-way love for her because I did not have much time and she already had a boyfriend. Moreover, she knew that I loved her. I was happy that she became happy due to me, yet it was meaningless to continue my affection and unprofitable for both of us. It was the right time for me to quit my affection from the moment I gave her this gift. It was really hard for me to quit her yet, I was really happy since I could give her a gift on her wish list and so, I could think about ending my affection. Since I came here, she contacts me and leaves some comments on my Facebook page. Every time she contacts me, my head is stirred up with thoughts of her. Nevertheless, I do not regret giving the portrait to her and then stepping back from her. Thanks to the gift, I could keep my one-way love as one of my beautiful memories and I could quit her without lingering affection. My affection ended up with a little bit of bitterness, but I learned I can be happy to choose a gift for someone I like. Due to my gift and her, I became more mature and learned I could not force her to like me, regardless of how much I liked her. Still, when I close my eyes, and think of her, I often see the portrait because I prepared it with sincerity and I cannot forget the smile when she received it. Donald Trump: "I have great respect for women. Nobody has more respect for women than I do." This is hard to believe. His words have shown that he does not have any respect to women. For example, Donald Trump called Megyn Kelly, female anchor of FOX news, as 'bimbo', in the past, also, he mocked commedian Rosie O'Donell as "Rosie is crude, rude, obnoxious and dumb - other than that I like her very much!" in his tweeter. (Donald Trump's Twitter). In addition to that, in 2005, he said very improper things without any hesitations (CNN article). In terms of that, it is so hard to believe that he respects women more than any other people.
Hillary Clinton: "After a yearlong investigation, there is no evidence that anyone hacked the server I was using, and there is no evidence that anyone can point to, at all … that any classified material ended up in the wrong hands.” According to fact checking (Fortune Presidential Fact Check), it is hard to know that someone invaded to her personal server or not. Therefore, her word is hard to trust as well. Short critique: It was hard to believe it is the most developed country’s presidential debate. Both presidential candidates were enthusiastic about blaming each other rather mentioning about their pledges. Especially Donald Trump seemed disqualified for this debate. He said improper things and rude things to Hillary Clinton such as “you would be in jail” and he kept disturbing Hillary Clinton while she was saying her opinions. Moreover, another thing that disturbed me a lot was anchors attitude about Donald Trump. Anchors should be neutral to both candidates. However, they seemed to give much time to Hillary Clinton rather than Donald Trump. In many parts, it was hard to say it is debate. Because of those bad attitudes. These debate is left as big blemish in American history. |
